The great thing about sketching is that you can use the simplest of supplies to get the job done! Most art supplies will carry what you need, but sometimes the extra special stuff can be a little hard to find. To be clear, nothing replaces lots and lots of practice. I call it "Pencil Mileage". It's the same concept that professional athletes use, you just keep showing up, building good habits, and improving your skills, day-by-day. However, there is a point at which it's time to retire the cheap sports equipment, and find an upgrade. Thankfully for artists, and specifically artists who love to sketch, it's an easy upgrade.
